Where they even find old films of this visual/audio quality I don't know, but it's impressive!

5 of 5 Uncut June 20, 2021

I just watched this one today. I read that after MGM executives saw this movie (1949), it influenced them to not only make Quo Vadis, but to make it at the Cinecitta studious where this blockbuster was made. Michele Morgan and Henri Vidal  are the two beautiful stars. Also, this is the uncut Italian version and not the dubbed and edited American version. Many thanks.

5 of 5 Excellent transfer September 15, 2017
Reviewer: Donald Hatch from San Anselmo, CA United States
It's a joy to have this complete version of Fabiola and in
such a fine transfer. I first saw this many years ago in a severely edited and atrociously dubbed version. It didn't seem to make much sense and the characters became
cardboard stereotypes. Now we can see them as nuanced and interesting people in a time of great turmoil.
It is one of the most interesting spectacles of all time and I heartily recommend it.

5 of 5 FABIOLA February 21, 2016

Another long lost gem from the 50's beautifully preserved on Movie Detective's roster. This print was crystal clear, rich black and whites and aside from the tech features, the film itself holds up beautifully. A real find.

This should be regarded as a great classic. This is the uncut original version. Those responsible for the shorter american version should be ashamed.
Great print. M D rules!

5 of 5 Restored November 27, 2014
Reviewer: Harvey Clark Greisman from Wilmington, DE United States
This is one of the films included in Martin Scorcese's, "My Voyage to Italy." It's a complete, restored version that bears little resemblance to the truncated thing he would have seen in New York back in the 'fifties. At maybe 2 1/2 hours, it runs twice as long as the initial US release.

Valuable.

5 of 5 Pure gold October 19, 2014
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Homestead, FL United States
I had seen this movie before in its American version capriciously edited, confusing and atrociously dubbed in English.  Thanks to Movie Detective I was now able to watch a magnificent film that doesn't even resemble the first one.   This one is pure gold.
