i do not  even know how to describe this movie. other than to say that it is great and super hard to find. but not impossible thanks to this site. if you really like the night porter and the piano teacher, then you would probably dig this.

5 of 5 It's some kind of a film.... May 24, 2018

Italian filmmakers of the seventies made erotic movies that were more disturbing than titlillating:  LAST TANGO IN PARIS, THE NIGHT PORTER, among others.  This drama is also in their league; it may be graphic but it's too provocative to be categorized as prurient.   FIFTY SHADES OF GRAY and 9 1/2 WEEKS have nothing over in terms of the dealing with the theme of the erotic power of domination.

Excellent drama about France's submission to the Nazis by way of a sado-masochistic relationship. Lisa Gastoni and Franco Nero give probably the finest performances of their careers. Cinematography by Vittorio Storaro and direction by Salvatore Samperi are superb. The music by Riz Ortalani, however, is not moving enough.
