Description

This is a region-free DVD+R without case or artwork.

In Italian with English subtitles. Also known as The Gate of Heaven and Doorway to Heaven. Directed by Vittorio De Sica.

This is the story of a train full of sick and deformed pilgrims on their way to seek miracles at the shrine of Our Lady of Loreto, near the city of Ancona in eastern Italy. The film was made during the German occupation of Rome, with support from the Vatican. This and another film The Ten Commandments (1945) allowed a number of actors, under pressure to go north and work in Venice for the film industry of Mussolini's puppet Italian Social Republic, to remain in Rome.

A fine film.I could do without the communist propaganda blurb which was added to the beginning of the film.It talks of the captivity of Rome.Captivity my ass.The Germans came to Italy to help their allies, the honorable Italians fighting a war to repel the American invasion.Italian and American filmmakers, except for Roberto Rossellini who is the only director to tell the truth about the war in Europe, would have you believe that Italy was an occupied country invaded by the Germans! The Germans spent most of their time aiding the wounded and digging the dead out of the rubble caused by American bombing, finding deserting Italian soldiers, and defending themselves from attacks by communist partisans.WWII was a religious war,the Catholic countries of Europe against Jewish born and bred communism. The 1st precept of Marxist communism is ownership ol land. The Catholic churches owned vast amounts of land, which the Russians first tried to take over in Spain killing priests and nuns by the bushelful
