Professor Giacomo Banti (
Vittorio De Sica) lives a quiet life dedicated to his plants, books and piano, in a villa with only the company of his butler and his authoritarian aunt, who treats him like a child. However, he dreams of love. One day, while fishing, a parachutist falls out of the sky and into his life: it is beautiful and bold Dora Sandri (Milly). She and her friends will be invited to spend the night in the villa. Smitten at once with Dora, Banti learns that she will likely marry the athletic Prince Huerta, so the professor puts down his books and picks up a racing bike to try and change her mind. Also with
