Monsieur Richard (Jean-Pierre Aumont) is summoned to his home by a mysterious phone call.  Not long afterwards, the millionaire business man is found dead.  The disappearance of several old masters would suggest that Richard was killed in the course of a burglary.  Lechat (Serge Reggiani), the police inspector in charge of the investigation, thinks otherwise.  An obvious suspect is Richard’s wife (Michèle Morgan), who may have done the deed so that she could claim a generous life insurance payout.  And she may have had another motive.  It appears that, not long before his death, Richard had fallen in love with a young actress and was planning to leave his wife...

I received the DVD. It was in good condition.  The movie was terrific - I had seen it many years ago in New York and since then had been trying to hunt it down.  Thanks to MovieDetective, I now have my own copy.
