Not long afterwards, the millionaire business man is found dead. The disappearance of several old masters would suggest that Richard was killed in the course of a burglary. Lechat (Serge Reggiani), the police inspector in charge of the investigation, thinks otherwise. An obvious suspect is Richard’s wife (Michèle Morgan), who may have done the deed so that she could claim a generous life insurance payout. And she may have had another motive. It appears that, not long before his death, Richard had fallen in love with a young actress and was planning to leave his wife...
