Widescreen. Directed by Mauro Bolognini. This is the comedic story of four Roman traffic police, all of different ranks, in the 1950's. 'Guardia scelta' (special agent) Giuseppe (Peppino De Filippo) wants to be a composer in order to write the official anthem for the Roman traffic police. 'Guardia' (agent) Alberto Randolfi (Alberto Sordi) has a too strong an inclination to fine everyone and dreams of learning French. 'Brigadiere' (sergeant) Pietro Spaziali (Aldo Fabrizi) is busy looking after his young son Tonino and daughter Maria who is going to marry a boxer. The 'Maresciallo' (Marshal) (Gino Cervi) tries to manage and solve all the problems that come across his desk, with mixed results.
