In Japanese with English subtitles. Also known as Namonaku Mazushiku Utsukushiku. Widescreen.

An unusual topic for a romantic story of love that transcends ordinary barriers, this well-wrought tale by director and scripter Zenzo Matsuyama centers on a married couple and their son. The wife and mother is deaf but she can speak, whereas her husband is both deaf and mute. They run into a series of difficulties but manage to overcome them in the end -- though the point of the story is really their relationship and the depth of the love they have for each other. Their silent world is aptly put across to a hearing audience, given that the sounds that take place around them become noticeable in themselves, sounds that a hearing population would take for granted.
