He's bored with his steady job, and has tired of seeing the people around him grow rich while his situation remains unchanged. Although his wife Laura (Anouk Aimée) encourages him to be happy with what they have, Ceriani decides to act on inside information he's overheard at the office and speculate on a piece of land in Sardinia which could be the realization of all his dreams.
