In Italian with English subtitles. Widescreen.

Directed by Dino Risi. In Nome Del Popolo Italiano (In the Name of the Italian People) represents the darker edge of Italian filmmaker Dino Risi's satiric sensibilities. Ugo Tognazzi stars as the magistrate of a prosperous Italian community. Completely incorruptible, Tognazzi goes after a crooked industrialist, played by Vittorio Gassman. The film details Tognazzi's subtle descent into toadyism. Dino Risi had often utilized the services of Ugo Tognazzi and Vittorio Gassman in the past, but seldom with such cutting, vicious effectiveness as in In Nome Del Popolo Italiano.

A true jewel!
Excellent movie. Please, try to make available more movies by Ugo Tognazzi, Nino Manfredi and Vittorio de Sica.

fine film
Another fine film. Dino Risi is a director comparable to Fellini.

Head to head - no love lost.
As strong as they are in their respective roles, Tognazzi and Gassman could as easily have excelled by trading places, which is testament to their acting abilities. Their characters loathe each other, but whereas the flamboyant Gassman would rather not be bothered by Tognazzi, Tognazzi, as a moralizing prosecutor, is infatuated with taking Gassman down.
