Claude Autant-Lara. Claude Sauvage (Marie-José Nat), a tenacious young gynecologist, takes an internship in a Paris hospital. Between her private life and medical career, she struggles with doubts and desires in a society where the plight of women remains a secondary issue. The film follows Claude and the staff through the cases of patients while the continuing the debate on women’s professional ambition, contraception and abortion rights.
