Le Secret, based on a novel by Francis Ryck, begins with the escape of mental patient David Daguerre (Jean-Louis Trintignant), who kills an asylum guard in the process. Daguerre hides out in the home of writer Thomas Berthelot (Philippe Noiret), explaining that his wounds and bruises are the result of torture at the hands of the "special police." Berthelot and his wife, Julia (Marlène Jobert), are willing to believe that Daguerre is a fugitive from oppression, especially after their house is surrounded by a group of soldiers on maneuvers. The couple tries to help David escape to Spain, but Julia finds herself strangely attracted to the man...

5 of 5 Rare gem of a film October 11, 2019

Great film with excellent cast at their finest (especially Noiret). Growing sense of dread and unease and beautifully filmed. Very rare and hard to find. Picture quality and sound excellent.

The disc is perfect. I saw this movie in 1975? When we were walking to the car I said, If we don't tell anyone we saw this maybe they won't kill us. Now my kids are looking over their shoulders. Brilliant movie.

Thank you, Jamy

5 of 5 A Secret to Kill for August 24, 2014
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Homestead, FL United States
This is a scary film without gore, blood or gratuituos violence, but something sinister creeping along.  The plot is in the Kafka's style. The ending leaves you guessing what is the secret.  The actors Jean-Louis Tringtinant and Philippe Noiret are superb.  This film is among the best that have ever been done.

5 of 5 Riveting thriller February 26, 2014
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from New York, NY United States
"Le Secret," is a remarkably intelligent thriller, devoid of contrivances, and surely a conspiracy theorist's delight. Following its very limited release in the United States in 1975, this film disappeared quickly; so quickly in fact it seemed the result of a conspiracy in and of itself. Trintignant gives one of his finest understated performances.
