This fil is also known as Il Lupo della Sila and Wolf of the Sila. Returning home after a night of love spent in a woodman's hut with Orsola (Luisa Rossi), Pietro (Vittorio Gassman) is arrested by the police for a crime he did not committ. His mother (Olga Solbelli) and youngest sister, Rosari (Laura Cortese), go to Orsola begging her to provide Pietro with the alibi that will clear him. But Rocco (Amedeo), Orsola's brother, dreading a family scandal, constrains Orsola to silence. Condemned despite his innocence, Pietro escapes from prison, but the police track him down and kill him, and his mother, before the eyes of Rosaria. Years pass, and one day Rocco stumbles upon a half-frozen young woman (Silvana Mangano) lying in the snow. He takes her home and confides her to the care of Orsola...

I've wanted this movie for a long time, being a huge fan of Silvana Mangano. This came in in perfect quality and met more than my expectations. Glad I was able to find this site. I will definitely be shopping here more often.

5 of 5 Molto bene. February 20, 2018

"Il lupo della Sila" comes in a crystal clear print of one of my favourite Italian films. The location shots of the Calabrian country in southern Italy give it just the right atmosphere. And then there is Lupo. I absolutely loved one scene in particular with Lupo and Sivana Mangano in close-up. Watch it, I think you'll enjoy it. Also in the film is the rarely seen Lithuanian actor Jacques Sernas.

4 of 5 Could have offered more. March 10, 2016
Reviewer: James from SE PA United States
A story that had enough elements to satisfy for at least another hour or two - a shame, really, that it is only an hour and fifteen minutes long, and Vittorio Gassman is a mere fifteen minutes, if that, on screen (a regret for anyone who loves his charisma). Amedeo Nazzari personifies a convincing firmness as the prideful, village stalwart. Luisa Rossi is somewhat underutilized as his resentful, spooky sister, while the strapping Jacques Sernas is intriguing as the visiting son/nephew. Last, but not least, Mangano's scheming, central character is even more seductive than her role in Bitter Rice, though, is that even possible?

4 of 5 Entertaining soap opera July 7, 2015
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Homestead, FL United States
A girl determined to take revenge  and a father and son both in love with her  ignoring her purpose.   Voila, all the material for a successful soap opera.    And, how the Italian cinema from the fifties  could so often manage to  show in a single movie such beautiful people as Amedeo Nazzari, Silvana Mangano and Jacques Sernas?
