Henri Decoin. Middle-aged and happily married composer Gérard Favier (
Louis Jouvet) meets the young and ambitious pianist Monelle (
Dany Robin). As he takes the girl under his wing, a prominent newspaper publishes an article speculating that he is having an affair with his student. The 'news' is false, but the composer's life quickly begins to unravel.
