This is a region-free DVD-R without case or artwork.In French with English subtitles.This police comedy-drama focuses on two policemen, René (Philippe Noiret), a somewhat grubby plainclothes policeman who has lived on bribes and minor racketeering for the last 20 years, and his new partner François (Thierry Lhermitte), especially honest and certainly naive. René is too accustomed to the good life with his lover, a former prostitute, and too much addicted to the racetrack to give it all up because of a straight-arrow partner.

Delighted to finally track down Le Cop
I saw this movie as Le Cop when it first aired in the UK and have been trying to find a decent copy with English subtitles ever since. Now I've found it. This reproduction is well above VHS quality and near DVD quality. Most importantly, the English subtitles are well phrased and idiomatically accurate - with just the occassional typo. Good source and transfer. Professional menu/setup. English subtiles are a good (idomatic) translation, free of spelling errors (French speaker). Have purchased some 20 French Language Noir/Neo Noir films from this seller, every listing described honestly and of good to very good quality.

Entertaining
This is the kind of film the French make so well. The great Philippe Noiret is wonderful, as is Thierry Lhermitte. Lots of fun.
