Description

This is a region-free DVD-R without case or artwork.

In French with English subtitles. This film is also known as 'Un Éléphant ça Trompe Énormément', or 'An Elephant Can Be Extremely Deceptive'.

The four buddies in this picture help one another out, especially when it concerns affairs of the heart. Etienne (Jean Rochefort) is happily married, but when he sees a young woman's dress blown up over her head, the image will not leave him. Even after his philandering buddy Bouly (Victor Lanoux) returns home one day to find that his wife has left him, taking all of their belongings and their child with her, he cannot stop thinking about the girl in the red dress...

'Pardon Mon Affaire' is vastly superior to the annoying Gene Wilder Americanization, 'The Woman in Red'. The basic premise of both films is the same: a man sees a woman's dress billow up, and instantaneously and in a manner that seems totally out of character decides he must have an affair with her. The surface elements of Affaire are not particularly different than Wilder's version, but the difference in the handling of them makes all the difference. Affaire mines the comedy without losing touch with the basic humanity of the story and its characters; it also manages to make the supporting cast more real and more important, even though they remain strictly supporting. As a result, Affaire has a sense of belonging in a real world, with characters whose lives affect each other and who have a genuine history and sense of connectedness between them.

Wonderful Romance French Comedy that still holds up today!
This movie was also the inspiration for U.S.,
"The Girl in the Red"(1984)

Film was lost for me.  You found it and I'm grateful.

Quality is excellent and I've already ordered four additional titles with more to come.

Thank you,
George and Nancy Madison.
