Widescreen. Also known as Addio Fratello Crudele.

NOTE: This version of the film is in English. When originally filmed, the English-speaking actors, including Rampling, were responsible for most of the dialogue and spoke their lines in English which was later overdubbed in Italian. This version removes the Italian overdub and presents the English actors speaking their original lines, with the Italian-speaking characters overdubbed in English.

Based on the Restoration-era play by John Ford, the Italian 'Tis a Pity She's a Whore stars Charlotte Rampling as the much-put-upon Annabella. Involved in an incestuous relationship with her own brother, Annabella becomes pregnant. This necessitates a quick marriage of convenience to nobleman Soranzo (Fabio Testi). Upon finding out who's responsible for Annabella's plight, Soranzo flies off into a murderous rage. Before you blame the "liberated" 1970s for the racier aspects of 'Tis a Pity She's a Whore, remember that the source material is 300 years old.

Happy with product
I ordered a film and had an issue with the format. I sent an email and a different format was emailed to me within one hour. Excellent film quality and excellent customer service. I will use this company again without hesitation.

Eurotrash Masterpiece
A pretentious, gorgeous Eurotrash masterpiece based on an (in)famous Jacobean “exploitation tragedy. Lots of eye candy: settings, actors, costumes, etc. Played seriously for spectacle but not much substance. Still, for what it is, very well done.

An Italian film of a 17th cent. English drama
This is based on the most infamous of the Jacobean dramas---one both melodramatic and thunderous. This film, however, largely reduces the poetry and the melodrama. It emphasizes the original's plot: basically, a Romeo and Juliet love story---but with a brother and sister! Such a premise can still shock us; that, plus Ford's bloodbath finale are enough to make this movie very compelling

It's a Pity She's a Whore
Shakespeare must of inspired this. The style seemed to indicate this was filmed in the 40's

Restoration a la Seventies
Very handsome adaptation of the sensational old play - and it creates some sensations of its own, in a very Seventies way. Well worth seeing.
